Everything you need to know
Everything a first-timer wonders about training, pricing, and what to expect — answered.
None at all. Our fundamentals classes are built for total beginners — most people walk in having never trained a day in their life. Coaches scale every drill to your level from day one, so you'll never feel thrown in the deep end. If you can show up, you can start.
Just comfortable athletic clothing — a t-shirt and shorts or leggings work great. Bring a water bottle and, if you have them, flip-flops for walking off the mat. We provide clean loaner gear for your first sessions, so there's no need to buy a gi before you know you love it. Come with clipped nails and an open mind.
We keep pricing simple with flexible monthly memberships and family rates — no long, locked-in contracts. Because the right plan depends on how often you want to train and which program fits you, we'll walk you through the exact options in person. The best first step is your free class: try before you decide anything.
We have three programs. Kids Martial Arts runs ages 4–13 in age-grouped classes focused on confidence, focus, and anti-bully skills. Adult Martial Arts is for ages 14 and up — Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and self-defense for every level. Women's Self Defense is open to all levels in a supportive, no-pressure setting. Not sure which fits? Tell us your goals and we'll point you the right way.
Your first class is genuinely on us — no card required and no strings attached. Request your free class online or give us a call, and we'll get you set up with a class time that fits your schedule. Come train, meet the coaches, and see how the room feels. If it's a fit, we'll talk membership after class. If not, no pressure at all.
Safety is the foundation of how we coach. Beginners drill controlled techniques with partners who are taught to train responsibly, and coaches watch the floor closely. Our mats are sanitized regularly, the training floor is spacious, and we hold everyone to a respectful, hygiene-first standard. You're here to learn, not to get hurt.
Two to three classes a week is the sweet spot for steady, noticeable progress without burning out. That said, showing up once a week consistently still builds real skill over time — consistency beats intensity. With morning, midday, and evening classes six days a week, most members find a rhythm that fits around work and family.
We keep it fair and flexible — no year-long contracts holding you hostage. Memberships run month to month, and you can cancel with simple written notice. Life happens, and we'd rather you train with us because you want to, not because you're locked in. Ask us for the specifics when you visit.
Absolutely — Gracie Martial Arts is family-owned and built for families. Kids can train in age-grouped classes while parents take adult or women's classes, often on overlapping schedules. Training together (or side by side) is one of the most rewarding parts of what we do, and we offer family rates to make it easy.
The best answer is a free class.
